Founder Wendy J. Winn, a fourth-generation horseman, spent a lifetime reading horses, feet, backs, and riders. Over 7,000 head later, she turned what she saw into an approach anyone can learn. Biomechanics meets the spirit of the West.
Our family has been in horses since 1912.
A legacy is meant to outlast any one rider. Today, Winn Horses is an approach, a team of clinicians, and a growing community called Winspiration Nation. We're passionate about helping both people and horses thrive by shifting mental focus and building unshakeable confidence from within.

Wendy J. Winn
Wendy J. Winn is a third-generation horsewoman from southeastern Idaho who spent her formative years honing her skills and dreaming big. After graduating high school, she fell in love and married Casy Winn while attending Utah State University, and together they embarked on an incredible journey. With over 30 years of marriage, they have actively participated in J.H., H.S., and College Rodeo, along with horse judging and 4-H activities. They have hosted a variety of clinics in barrel racing, roping, and bull riding, allowing them to learn and grow together. The Winn legacy thrives on values of education, horsemanship, coaching, saddle fitting, Christianity, and service. With extensive experience in training and understanding horses, Wendy specializes in the biomechanics of horse and rider while providing clinics across the U.S. Her engaging teaching style makes learning enjoyable, and her grace shines as she guides others on their equestrian journey.

I met Wendy Winn at a barrel race in Andrews Texas back in October of 2023 while she was there with her Burns trailer and saddles. Wendy was extremely busy but took the time to try to talk and listen to every barrel racer that had a question or problem. She is one of the most knowledgeable saddle fitters I have ever been associated with. Wendy can answer most any question and if she doesn’t know she will find out. She doesn’t leave anyone wondering about how the saddle fits properly or how it will help the mechanics of the horse to do his job well. Wendy has gone as far as going to other professionals in the horse discipline to figure out the mechanics of the way a shoulder and back tie together to work correctly and how the saddle should fit to allow the horse to work comfortable. This comes from a lot of dedication and studying from her in her spare time.
Since our first introduction, I have come to know Wendy in a different manor. Wendy is a strong Christian who will put herself aside to help or mentor others who are going through difficult times or is lost and needs some advice to simply just being a friend. She has dedicated herself to serve the Lord in whatever aspect that is required. She will take time away from her passion of roping as well as her job to help a complete stranger! Not many people have that depth of dedication to others and it shows through her kindness and thoughtfulness. I came across Facebook videos of Wendy discussing saddlefit back in the fall. I'm from Alabama and active in the horse industry and have only seen a handful of Burns saddles in the population of riders.
I am a veterinarian certified in acupuncture and animal chiropratics. I was on the equestrian team in college, my husband is an avid team roper, we show horses, trail ride, and breathe in the horse industry. In fact, my business model is built around alternative methods of helping horses perform at their best. I am semi trained in saddle fit from chiropratic certification, but was missing some key points to help my clients. I reached out to Wendy to help after a video with my friend and colleague about hoof angles and back pain aired.
We set up a lunch and learn for 3 days in Alabama, and from there I felt we had a crash course in knowledge. She was well educated and versed in anatomy and willing to be taught but firm enough in her knowledge to take a stance. I was very impressed with her conduct and character towards even people who were unintentionally hurting their horses backs. Character goes a long way in my book, and I feel like the Bible teaches us to love your neighbor as your self and that is Wendy Winn. We learned from each other about cases and open discussions about how to correctly fit saddles on shoulders and girth placements in a sweet spot. Things we all knew but never "knew". I now feel I can take that knowledge and apply it to not only own horses but my clients adequately.

When I signed up for the Wendy Winn saddle fitting and biomechanics clinic, I had come out of a long winter and decided to double down on education this year. I traded in the equivalent of a couple entree fees for an 8 hour intensive course that was designed with all riders and experience levels in mind.
What I gained in those 8 hours will undoubtedly save me thousands in the future. We covered basic biomechanics of the horse along with the application of these principles to riding and saddle fitting. Additionally we learned how to identify root causes of soreness/ poor performance ranging from hoof balance, medical conditions, conformation, imbalance in musculature, riding errors, tack issues and more. This was followed with providing each learner practical solutions to common problems. All of this information was delivered without neglecting the importance of having proper veterinary care, when to refer out, etc. The instruction was clear, concise and easy to follow.
Each learner was allowed ample individual attention and there were opportunities for group discussion fostering a safe space for learning regardless of individual background.
What is not highlighted in the flyer, is the exceptional dedication to individual growth that Wendy brings to the table each day. An authentic approach to building connections between the individual, the horse, and the group cultivate a lasting impact on all that attend. The follow through communication after the clinic is a unique piece that shifts the objective of this clinic from strictly instruction to true mentorship.
