WHAT TO EXPECT...
​The North Texas Clinic is hosting a comprehensive saddle fitting event on August 12-13 at the Kings Trail Cowboy Church Arena in Whitewright, Texas.

The clinic offers sessions on August 12 from 8 AM to 5 PM, where participants can enhance their understanding of the biomechanics of horse and rider in western saddle style.

These sessions will cover essential topics such as :
*regulating your horse's and your own nervous systems through stretching, key insights for horse owners
*balance and biomechanics of western riding.
*Each session accommodates up to five clients with two horses each

The cost for participation is $350 per client, with the option to pay half to secure a spot or pay in full for a bonus "winnspiration" cap and card.

*To participate, a valid Coggins test is required, and a release form will be provided by Wendy upon payment.

What To Expect

Here's a guide outlining what you can generally expect when attending a saddle fitting clinic.

Preparation Before the Clinic

Scheduling and Confirmation:

  • You will typically need to schedule and pay your appointment in advance.
  • Confirm the date, time, and location of the clinic.

Horse Preparation:

  • Ensure your horse is clean and presentable.
  • Be prepared to have your horse available for assessment.
  • We will have 5 clients in a 3 hour session, we will use one horse for discussion.
  • First we lunge and access the horse for balance, as well as the horses bio mechanics under saddle .
  • Second we will go over balance, pressure, cinch, pads and evaluation at a static form.
  • Third we pull the saddle off and go over the anatomy of the horse
  • Fourth we put trees on and saddles and have a discussion about why flare and a different set up could be better
  • If possible we may have saddles available to ride and try

During the Clinic

Initial Assessment:

  • The saddle fitter will observe your horse's conformation and movement.
  • They may also assess your current saddle's fit on your horse.

Demonstration and Explanation:

  • The fitter will demonstrate how to assess saddle fit.
  • They will explain key fitting principles and how they apply to your horse.

Saddle Evaluation:

  • Each saddle will be evaluated on your horse's back.
  • The fitter will provide feedback and recommendations.

Riding Assessment:

  • You may be asked to ride your horse with the evaluated saddles.
  • This allows the fitter to see how the saddle performs under saddle.

Q&A Session:

  • There will be an opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts.
  • The fitter will provide advice on saddle adjustments or purchases.

Post-Clinic Considerations

Follow Up:

  • You may need to schedule a follow-up appointment after adjustments or a new purchase.
  • Understand the fitter's recommendations and next steps.

Saddle Care:

  • Learn about proper saddle maintenance and storage.
  • Ask about adjustments and when they might be needed.

Practice and Observation:

  • Practice assessing your saddle fit regularly.
  • Continue to observe your horse's behavior and comfort levels.
